Currently anticipating…

Ooooh, Gone Girl.

I really liked the book. Well, I liked the first 95% of the book (like most people from the reviews I’ve seen), and the ending left me scratching my head. But knowing they changed the ending for the movie is making me SO excited to see it.

I will say, even though the ending is kinda wtf-inducing (so prepare yourself to probably throw your hands up and maybe the book with them), I do really recommend reading the book. It gets inside your head and keeps you guessing and guessing and is just a really… I wouldn’t say “fun” reading experience, but it definitely keeps you on your toes.

Book Review: We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

Welcome to the beautiful Sinclair family.
No one is a criminal.
No one is an addict.
No one is a failure.
The Sinclairs are athletic, tall, and handsome. We are old-money Democrats. Our smiles are wide, our chins square, and our tennis serves aggressive.
It doesn’t matter if divorce shreds the muscles of our hearts so that they will hardly beat without a struggle. It doesn’t matter if trust-fund money is running out; if credit card bills go unpaid on the kitchen counter. It doesn’t matter if there’s a cluster of pills on the bedside table.
It doesn’t matter if one of us is desperately, desperately in love.
So much
in love
that equally desperate measures
must be taken.
We are Sinclairs.
No one is needy.
No one is wrong.
We live, at least in the summertime, on a private island of the coast of Massachusetts.
Perhaps that is all you need to know.

Oh, this book. I was not expecting this book. And I don’t want to give anything away so I won’t even review it other than to say that I devoured it in one sitting because I could not put it down. I know I’ve said that before, but seriously, this book did not leave my hands until I was done. This was the first of four books I read over the long weekend and after I finished each new book, my thoughts came right back to this one.

It’s good.
